It's a beautiful sunny morning in Homer, AK. I can't believe the summer is finally over and it's time to head to Russia.
Wait, Russia?!
It still hasn't really sunk in that when I get in the car to drive 5 hours to the airport and hop on a plane (then another and another and another) I'll eventually end up in Russia (three days later).
As I dragged my huge bag down the stairs this morning the only thing I was really thinking about was what I'm going to have for lunch. I'm excited, but Russia doesn't feel quite as real yet as my grumbling stomach. I guess the only way to remedy the situation is to dive in with both feet (I've never been a very graceful diver). It's time for lunch, then I'll hit the very long and dusty trail. Off we go!
I'm looking forward to your updates, as meager as they might end up being. I've got an even higher level of anticipation for seeing you when you get back!
